Description
Connect the hose. Turn on the water.
This black polypropylene bib tap pairs a ½-inch BSP male inlet with a garden quick-connect outlet. It provides a convenient hose attachment point on a compatible garden fitting.
The broad orange knob turns to control the water, while the curved spout brings the hose connection down below the body. Click a matching female hose connector onto the outlet when you need it, then release the connector to remove the hose.
One tap supplied. Hose, female connector and mounting adapters are sold separately.

Match the inlet to your existing fitting
The threaded end is ½-inch BSP male. It needs a corresponding female thread on the fitting or adapter you are connecting it to.
BSP is a nominal pipe-thread size, so measuring across the thread with a ruler will not give a literal half-inch diameter. Check the connection specification rather than choosing a fitting solely from its appearance.
A water butt or tank may need a separate bulkhead or adapter. Identify the outlet already on your container before choosing the tap, and use the sealing arrangement appropriate to that joint.

The hose clips onto this end
The outlet has a male garden quick-connect spigot with a sealing O-ring. A compatible female hose connector clicks onto it; the bare hose does not push directly over the spigot as it would over a hose-tail barb.
Choose the female connector for your hose bore. For example, the separately available grey ½-inch hose connector is an option for a matching ½-inch garden hose. That hose size is independent of the tap’s ½-inch BSP inlet thread.
Push the connector on fully, check that it is retained and test the assembled connection with water. Keep the O-ring and mating connector clean, and support the hose so pulling it does not twist the tap.
Fit it once. Keep it easy to use.
Check the thread, the hose connection and access to the control before installation.
Start with the water isolated
Close or drain the relevant supply before replacing a tap. Clean and inspect the mating thread, then start the connection by hand. Avoid cross-threading or overtightening the plastic body.
Leave the knob accessible
Position the curved spout downwards with room around the orange knob. Turn the control gently to adjust the flow and close it without forcing it past its stopping point.
Test and drain when needed
Introduce water gradually and inspect the threaded joint and hose coupling. Disconnect and drain exposed fittings before freezing conditions so water is not trapped inside the tap.
Questions about this quick-connect tap
Does my hose push straight onto the spout?
No. The supplied outlet is a male garden quick-connect spigot. Fit a compatible female quick connector to your hose, then click that connector onto the tap. Choose the female connector to match the hose bore.
Is the orange control a quarter-turn lever?
No. This version has a round, screw-type turning knob. Turn it to open, adjust or close the flow; it is a different control from a lever-operated tap.
Will it fit directly onto my water butt?
Only if the existing connection is a matching ½-inch BSP female thread. Water butts and tanks use different outlets, so check yours first. A suitable bulkhead or adapter may be needed and is not supplied with the tap.
Can I choose it for drinking water or a high-pressure system?
The tap is described here for garden water use. A PP body and BSP thread alone do not establish drinking-water approval or an operating-pressure rating. Check the requirements of your intended installation and contact us if you need help selecting a fitting for a specific application.

What is BSP?
What is BSP thread size?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is a nominal pipe-thread size, not a direct measurement of a fitting’s bore or outside diameter. For example, a ½-inch BSP male thread measures about 21mm across its outer thread crests.
These figures are approximate outside diameters of male BSP threads, to help identify the nominal size. They are not inch-to-millimetre unit conversions:
- 3/8" BSP → 16.66 mm
- 1/2" BSP → 20.95 mm
- 3/4" BSP → 26.44 mm
- 1" BSP → 33.25 mm
- 1.25" BSP → 41.91 mm
- 1.5" BSP → 47.80 mm
- 2" BSP → 59.61 mm
- 3" BSP → 87.88 mm
- 4" BSP → 113.03 mm
Measure across the outside of a male thread, then check its pitch and whether it is parallel or tapered. Diameter alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the product’s stated thread specification before connecting.
