What size pond liner do I need?

Prepare the pond. Protect the liner.

A little preparation makes it easier to get the liner into position.

Start with a smooth base

Remove sharp stones, roots and debris from the pond base and sides before laying protective underlay.

Unfold before you position

Open the sheet fully and let it relax before fitting it into the pond. Work the flexible rubber into curves and shelves without pulling it tight.

Fill gradually, then finish the edges

Let the water settle the liner into place. Keep your edging allowance until the liner has settled, then secure and finish the edges.

Add protective underlay

Choose the quantity and coverage to suit your pond. Underlay is sold separately.

EPDM pond liner questions

What do the liner dimensions mean?

The sizes shown are the dimensions of the flat sheet, not the finished pond. Allow for the pond length and width, twice the maximum depth and enough material to secure the edges. Use the calculator above to find the smallest suitable sheet we offer.

What is the difference between 1100gsm and 0.9mm?

1100gsm describes the material weight per square metre. 0.9mm (900 microns) describes the thickness. They describe different properties of the same EPDM rubber liner.

Is protective underlay included?

No. Each product supplies one EPDM liner. Protective underlay and installation accessories are sold separately.

How do I measure a pond with shelves or an irregular shape?

Measure the longest length, widest width and maximum depth for the calculator. Also measure along the actual contours, including shelves and changes in level, before choosing your sheet.

Will the liner arrive as a roll?

The liner is supplied folded. Unfold it fully and let it relax before positioning it in the pond.
