Description
Connect the route around your pond
Give suitable pond equipment a flexible connection with 40mm black corrugated PVC hose.
The ribbed wall follows broad curves around edging and equipment. Match the nominal 1½-inch bore to your hosetails, then choose the length for the route.
Seven options from 1m to 30m. Plain-ended hose supplied; fittings are separate.

Know the wall before you fit it
The outside is corrugated, while the inside has shallow, smoothed ridges. It is flexible PVC, with a black finish that blends into planting and the area around pond equipment.
This type is commonly described as smooth-bore pond hose. That trade name does not mean the inside is completely flat. When replacing a hose, check the construction as well as the bore.
The open end shown here is the actual 40mm hose. It needs a suitable hosetail and securing method; it does not screw directly onto a BSP thread.
Plan from the fittings outwards
Check both ends of the connection before choosing the hose length.
Check the connection
Look for a hosetail intended for 40mm-bore flexible hose. A threaded pump or filter outlet may need an adapter. BSP sizes and hose-bore sizes describe different parts of the connection.
Measure the path
Follow the route the hose will take, rather than a straight line between outlets. Allow for broad curves and the sections that sit on the hosetails. Keep the run supported and avoid tension on the fittings.
Choose and trim
Select 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m, 10m or 30m above. The hose can be cut to suit the installation. Lay out the route and check the fitting allowance before making the final cut.
Keep the connections easy to reach
A practical installation leaves room for checking and maintenance.
Avoid tight folds
Use gradual bends, particularly beside a hosetail. Do not trap the hose beneath edging or force it around a sharp corner. Corrugations help the wall keep its form but cannot prevent every kink.
Inspect the joints
Follow the fitting and equipment instructions for securing the hose, then check with water before concealing it. The ribbed wall alone does not make a joint leak-proof.
Allow for servicing
Leave accessible connections where you will clean a filter or remove equipment. Check that the hose and fittings meet the operating requirements of your system rather than relying on diameter alone.
Questions about the 40mm hose
Does 1½-inch mean it fits a 1½-inch BSP thread?
No. The 40mm / 1½-inch description is the nominal hose bore, measured inside the hose. A BSP thread is a different connection with its own dimensions. This plain-ended hose needs a suitable hosetail. If your equipment has a threaded outlet, choose an adapter with the correct thread on one side and a hosetail intended for this hose on the other.
Is this hose completely smooth inside?
It has shallow, smoothed internal ridges, not a completely flat inner wall. The outside is corrugated too. “Smooth bore” is a trade description often used for this style of pond hose. The actual end photograph and this construction detail help you compare it with an existing hose and check whether it matches your equipment’s requirements.
Which length should I select?
Measure along the planned hose route, including the curves around obstacles and the sections that will fit over the hosetails. Choose from 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m, 10m or 30m in the Pipe Length dropdown. Avoid stretching a shorter piece between connections. The coil in a product photograph illustrates the hose; it does not show the quantity for every option.
Are connectors or clips included?
No. This listing supplies the selected length of plain-ended hose. Connectors, clips, pumps and filters are separate. Choose fittings for 40mm-bore flexible hose, check their securing instructions and confirm that the hose is appropriate for your equipment. Assemble and inspect the joints with water before covering the route or putting it out of reach.
