Description
50mm hose for your pond equipment
Connect suitable pumps, filters and water features with black corrugated PVC hose in a nominal 50mm / 2-inch bore.
The flexible wall follows broad curves around your installation. Match the hose and fittings to the equipment, then choose the length for the route.
Seven lengths from 1m to 30m. Hose only; fittings are separate.

Check the bore at the open end
The 50mm measurement is inside the hose, commonly called a 2-inch bore. Its outside diameter is larger because of the wall and corrugations.
Choose hosetails intended for this bore and hose construction. A 2-inch BSP thread is a different connection: a threaded outlet may need an adapter with the correct hosetail.
The actual measurement photograph helps identify where to check a replacement. Confirm the equipment’s hose requirements rather than relying on the outside diameter or an inch label alone.
Plan the length around the fittings
Keep the hose supported and the joints accessible.
Measure the route
Follow the path the hose will take, allowing for broad bends and the sections that seat on the hosetails. Avoid pulling a short piece tight between outlets or forcing a sharp turn beside a fitting.
Select the length
Choose 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m, 10m or 30m above. The hose can be cut to suit the run. Lay it out and check the fitting allowance before making the final cut.
Secure and inspect
Follow the hose and fitting instructions for securing each joint. Choose clips for the assembled hose diameter where required, then check the joints with water before concealing the route.

A flexible wall with a ribbed profile
The actual close-up shows the hose’s corrugated exterior. Inside, it has shallow, smoothed ridges rather than a completely flat wall.
Often described as smooth-bore pond hose, this construction is flexible enough to follow gradual curves. Support the run and keep it clear of sharp folds and trapped sections.
The bore and wall style help you select a hose; they do not establish a particular flow rate or pressure rating. Check the operating requirements of your pump, filter and fittings before assembly.
Questions about the 50mm hose
Is 50mm the internal or external diameter?
It is the nominal internal bore, commonly described as 2-inch. The wall and ribs make the outside larger. Match a hosetail intended for 50mm-bore flexible hose and check its profile and securing instructions. A 2-inch BSP thread is a different connection and cannot be matched simply by comparing its nominal inch size with the hose label.
Is this completely smooth on the inside?
No. It has shallow, smoothed internal ridges and a visibly corrugated exterior. “Smooth bore” is a trade description often used for this hose style, rather than a promise of a perfectly flat wall. Check the bore and construction when replacing a hose, and follow your equipment’s requirements. The name alone does not establish a flow rate or operating pressure.
Does a larger bore guarantee more water flow?
A 50mm bore describes the hose size, not a guaranteed delivery rate. The pump, fittings, length, bends and the rest of the system also affect the installation. Check the equipment’s specifications and required hose size. Do not select this hose solely from an assumed litres-per-minute figure or treat its diameter as evidence of a pressure rating.
What do I receive with my chosen length?
You receive the length selected in the Pipe Length dropdown: 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m, 10m or 30m. Hose clips, connectors, pumps and filters are separate. Photographs illustrate the hose rather than the supplied quantity for every option. Measure along the route and include bends and fitting engagement before choosing or cutting a length.
