  • Choose the inlet and outlet separately — Size selects a ½-inch or ¾-inch BSP male supply thread. Outlet selects a Barbed hose tail or Quick Connector plug. Match the supply thread first, then choose how you want to attach the hose.
  • Quick Connector for click-fit hose connections — this option has a male garden quick-connect plug. Clip on a compatible female hose connector, sold separately. The BSP inlet size does not specify which hose bore your female connector should grip.
  • Barbed outlet for direct hose attachment — choose ½-inch BSP for the tail suited to ½-inch hose, approximately 13mm internal bore, or ¾-inch BSP for the tail suited to ¾-inch hose, approximately 19mm internal bore. Use a suitable retaining clip, sold separately.
  • Nickel-plated brass with a T-bar handle — turn the handle to control the water supply. One tap in your selected configuration is supplied; hose, female quick connectors, retaining clips, mounting fittings and sealing materials are separate.

Description

Choose how your hose connects

A nickel-plated brass garden tap with a T-bar handle and a choice of two outlet styles: a barbed tail for direct hose attachment, or a male quick-connect plug for a prepared click-fit hose.

Select a ½-inch or ¾-inch BSP male supply inlet, then choose the Outlet option. Check both selections before ordering.

One selected tap supplied. Quick Connector option pictured; hose, connectors and installation fittings are separate.

Quick Connector: clip on a prepared hose

Choose Quick Connector for a male garden quick-connect plug at the outlet. Your hose needs a compatible female quick connector, which clips onto this plug.

Choose that female connector to suit your hose's internal diameter. The Size selector describes the BSP supply inlet; it does not choose the hose bore or include a female connector.

Turn off the water and release pressure before disconnecting. This arrangement lets you detach the prepared hose without removing the tap from its supply fitting.

Barbed: attach the hose directly

Choose Barbed for a ridged hose tail. The ½-inch BSP version is for ½-inch hose, nominally 13mm internal bore. The ¾-inch BSP version is for ¾-inch hose, nominally 19mm internal bore.

The hose fits over the tail and needs a suitable retaining clip, supplied separately. Check the actual hose bore and allow enough room below the tap for the hose to bend without kinking.

A hose tail and a quick-connect plug are different connections. A bare hose does not clip onto the Quick Connector option, and a female click-fit connector does not attach directly to the Barbed tail.

Check the supply, outlet and clearance

Three checks help you choose the right configuration before fitting.

Match the BSP inlet

Select the ½-inch or ¾-inch BSP male inlet to match a suitable female supply fitting. BSP is a nominal thread size, not its measured outside diameter. Water-butt installation may need a separate adapter or mounting kit.

Choose the hose connection

For Barbed, match the specified hose bore and use a suitable retaining clip. For Quick Connector, use a compatible female garden connector sized for your hose. These accessories are not included.

Fit and check the joints

Isolate the water supply before fitting. Leave room to turn the T-bar, use the sealing method required by the joint and avoid overtightening. Restore water gradually, check for leaks and drain exposed fittings before freezing weather.

Choosing your tap configuration

What do Size and Outlet select?

Size selects the male BSP supply inlet: ½-inch or ¾-inch. Outlet selects a barbed hose tail or a male garden quick-connect plug. Both selectors apply to the one tap you receive.

Which hose fits the Barbed versions?

The ½-inch BSP Barbed tap takes ½-inch hose, nominally 13mm internal bore. The ¾-inch BSP Barbed tap takes ¾-inch hose, nominally 19mm internal bore. Use a suitable separate retaining clip.

Does the Quick Connector option include the female connector?

No. The tap has the male plug. You need a compatible female garden quick connector attached to your hose, with its hose-gripping end matched to the hose bore.

What arrives with my order?

One nickel-plated brass tap with a T-bar handle, in the inlet size and outlet style selected. Hose, female quick connectors, retaining clips, wall plates, mounting fittings and sealing materials are separate.

What is BSP?

What is BSP thread size?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is a nominal pipe-thread size, not a direct measurement of a fitting’s bore or outside diameter. For example, a ½-inch BSP male thread measures about 21mm across its outer thread crests.

These figures are approximate outside diameters of male BSP threads, to help identify the nominal size. They are not inch-to-millimetre unit conversions:

  • 3/8" BSP → 16.66 mm
  • 1/2" BSP → 20.95 mm
  • 3/4" BSP → 26.44 mm
  • 1" BSP → 33.25 mm
  • 1.25" BSP → 41.91 mm
  • 1.5" BSP → 47.80 mm
  • 2" BSP → 59.61 mm
  • 3" BSP → 87.88 mm
  • 4" BSP → 113.03 mm

Measure across the outside of a male thread, then check its pitch and whether it is parallel or tapered. Diameter alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the product’s stated thread specification before connecting.
