Description
Make the tank outlet work with your next fitting
This shallow adapter cap brings a 1-inch BSP female connection to a matching S60x6 IBC outlet. Use it as the starting point for a tap, hose tail or threaded connector that suits your watering setup.
The large coarse thread attaches to the tank or valve; the smaller central socket accepts your 1-inch BSP male fitting. Both connections are female, but they are different thread systems.
One black adapter cap supplied. The tank, existing valve and any fittings added to the centre port are separate.

Check both sides of the connection
At the tank: the rear of the cap has the large female S60x6 coarse thread. It needs the matching male outlet on your tank or existing valve. Check the diameter, pitch and sealing face; a similar-looking IBC outlet can have a different thread.
At the centre: the smaller socket is 1-inch BSP female. Pair it with a matching 1-inch BSP male fitting. A male thread of this nominal size measures about 33.25mm across its outer crests; “1-inch” is the BSP designation, not a 25.4mm measured diameter or a hose size.
The actual rear photograph shows the tank-side thread and sealing face around the open centre. Check that this face and its seal sit correctly against your outlet before use.
Plan the connection beyond the cap
A tap gives you local flow control; a hose tail or hose connector provides a route to your hose. Each needs a compatible 1-inch BSP male inlet to screw into this cap. If you choose a hose tail, match its barb to the hose's internal diameter and use an appropriate clip.
Isolate the supply before fitting or changing connections. Start the threads by hand, keep the cap square to the outlet and use the sealing method appropriate to each joint. Support attached taps and hoses so their weight does not pull on the tank outlet, then check the assembled connection before use.
Before you connect it
Will this cap close an unused tank outlet?
No. The centre is an open threaded port. This cap adapts the outlet rather than blanking it off, and it has no shut-off mechanism. Keep the existing tank valve closed while changing fittings; choose a compatible solid closure if you need to close an unused outlet.
Can I push a garden hose straight onto it?
No. The centre is a female BSP socket, not a hose barb or click-lock connection. Add the appropriate 1-inch BSP male hose fitting, then match its hose connection to your hose. No tap, hose connector or hose is supplied with the cap.

What is BSP?
What is BSP thread size?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is a nominal pipe-thread size, not a direct measurement of a fitting’s bore or outside diameter. For example, a ½-inch BSP male thread measures about 21mm across its outer thread crests.
These figures are approximate outside diameters of male BSP threads, to help identify the nominal size. They are not inch-to-millimetre unit conversions:
- 3/8" BSP → 16.66 mm
- 1/2" BSP → 20.95 mm
- 3/4" BSP → 26.44 mm
- 1" BSP → 33.25 mm
- 1.25" BSP → 41.91 mm
- 1.5" BSP → 47.80 mm
- 2" BSP → 59.61 mm
- 3" BSP → 87.88 mm
- 4" BSP → 113.03 mm
Measure across the outside of a male thread, then check its pitch and whether it is parallel or tapered. Diameter alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the product’s stated thread specification before connecting.
