  • Choose the inlet and outlet separately — Size selects a ½-inch or ¾-inch BSP male supply thread. Type selects a single Quick Connector or the tap with a 2-Way Splitter. Check both selectors to order the arrangement you need.
  • One hose connection or two — the Quick Connector version has one male garden outlet plug. The splitter version provides two male garden plugs, each with its own valve, so you can control two connected watering lines separately.
  • White turn knob, grey plastic body — the main knob controls water through the tap. On splitter options it supplies both branches; the two smaller knobs control the branches individually. Allow room around the handle and beneath the outlets.
  • Tap supplied in your selected configuration — splitter options include the matching tap and one two-way splitter. Hose, female hose connectors, mounting nut, washer and supply fittings are separate. Match connectors to your actual hose bore.

Description

Choose one watering line or two

Keep a single hose connection at the tap, or choose the two-way splitter option to attach two watering lines with separate branch controls.

Choose a ½-inch or ¾-inch BSP male inlet to match your supply fitting. The white knob controls the main tap; both versions have a grey plastic body.

One selected tap configuration supplied. Splitter option pictured; hose, female connectors and mounting fittings are separate.

Quick Connector: one hose at the tap

Choose Quick Connector under Type for the tap with one male garden quick-connect plug. It suits a setup where you connect one prepared hose to the water source.

Fit a compatible female garden quick connector to your hose, then clip it onto the tap's plug. To change watering equipment, turn off the water and release pressure before disconnecting.

The Size selector refers to the BSP supply inlet, not the hose diameter. Choose the female connector's hose-gripping end to match your hose bore.

2-Way Splitter: separate control for each line

Choose 2-Way Splitter under Type for the matching tap and a two-outlet splitter. Each outlet has a male garden quick-connect plug and its own small control knob.

The tap's main white knob supplies the splitter. Use the branch controls to run either connected line or both as required—for example, a hand-watering hose and a separate watering line.

Both branches share the same water source. The splitter does not boost pressure or guarantee equal flow; the supply, hose lengths and attached equipment affect what each line receives.

This option contains one tap and one splitter. It is not the separate nut-and-washer mounting kit, and does not include hoses or female hose connectors.

Check the fit in three steps

Match the supply thread, leave room for the controls, then choose the hose connectors.

Select the supply inlet

Match the selected ½-inch or ¾-inch BSP male thread to a suitable female supply fitting. BSP is a nominal thread size, not the measured outside diameter.

Allow room around the tap

Check that the main knob can turn freely. Splitter options need additional room below the tap for two connectors and their hoses. A suitable thread alone does not establish water-butt compatibility.

Fit and check

Isolate the supply before fitting and avoid overtightening plastic threads. Use the sealing method required by the connection, restore water gradually and check the joints. Drain exposed fittings before freezing weather.

Choosing your grey garden tap

What do Size and Type change?

Size selects the male BSP supply inlet: ½-inch or ¾-inch. Type selects one quick-connect outlet or the tap with a two-way splitter. Neither selector chooses a hose length or includes a hose.

Can I control the splitter outlets independently?

Yes. Each splitter outlet has its own control valve, while the main tap knob controls the shared supply. Both outlets share the available flow from that source.

Do the outlets take bare hose?

No. They are male garden quick-connect plugs. Each hose needs a compatible female quick connector with a hose attachment suited to its bore. These female connectors are separate.

Are a mounting nut and washer included?

No. These options supply the chosen tap configuration, with one splitter on 2-Way Splitter versions. Mounting nuts, washers, wall plates, supply adapters, hose and female hose connectors are separate.

What is BSP?

What is BSP thread size?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is a nominal pipe-thread size, not a direct measurement of a fitting’s bore or outside diameter. For example, a ½-inch BSP male thread measures about 21mm across its outer thread crests.

These figures are approximate outside diameters of male BSP threads, to help identify the nominal size. They are not inch-to-millimetre unit conversions:

  • 3/8" BSP → 16.66 mm
  • 1/2" BSP → 20.95 mm
  • 3/4" BSP → 26.44 mm
  • 1" BSP → 33.25 mm
  • 1.25" BSP → 41.91 mm
  • 1.5" BSP → 47.80 mm
  • 2" BSP → 59.61 mm
  • 3" BSP → 87.88 mm
  • 4" BSP → 113.03 mm

Measure across the outside of a male thread, then check its pitch and whether it is parallel or tapered. Diameter alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the product’s stated thread specification before connecting.
