Description
Connect the hose. Adjust the spray.
A four-piece yellow-and-grey hose starter kit for a compatible threaded garden tap and ½-inch or ⅝-inch hose. Fit the connectors at opposite ends, attach the nozzle and adjust the spray as you water.
Nozzle, two hose connectors and tap adapter included. Hose and tap sold separately.

Four parts, each with a purpose
The standard hose connector goes at the tap end. It clips onto the male garden plug on the tap adapter, while its retaining nut secures the hose.
The STOP connector goes at the watering end. Its valve closes when the nozzle is detached, so the two similar-looking hose connectors have different jobs.
The straight adjustable nozzle clips into the STOP connector. Twist it to alter the spray. This is a simple adjustable nozzle rather than a trigger gun or a dial with fixed numbered patterns.

Match the tap thread and hose separately
The tap adapter has a female BSP thread for a matching male-threaded tap. Use its reducer for a ¾-inch BSP outlet, or remove the reducer for a 1-inch BSP outlet.
The two hose-end connectors fit nominal ½-inch or ⅝-inch garden hose. Those measurements describe the hose fit, not the tap thread. BSP sizes are nominal pipe-thread designations, so measuring the outside thread with a ruler will not give the named inch size.
Check the actual tap thread, hose dimensions and condition of the seals before ordering. The kit is for compatible garden quick-connect fittings; it is not an adapter for every tap or hose.
Set it up before opening the tap
Keep the standard connector at the supply end and the STOP connector at the nozzle end.
Prepare the hose ends
Use clean, undamaged hose ends. Put each retaining nut onto the hose, seat the hose in its connector and tighten the nut by hand.
Attach and check
Fit the tap adapter to the matching tap, then engage both quick connections fully. Open the tap gradually and inspect the hose ends, threaded connection and nozzle joint.
Finish watering
Turn off the tap and release pressure before maintenance or storage. Disconnect, drain and store the fittings protected from frost; the STOP valve does not isolate the water supply.
Questions about the starter kit
Is the hose included?
No. One kit contains four parts: an adjustable straight nozzle, a standard hose connector, a STOP hose connector and a threaded tap adapter with reducer. Supply your own compatible garden hose and tap.
Which connector goes at each end of the hose?
Use the standard connector at the tap end and the STOP connector at the nozzle end. The STOP connector closes when the nozzle is disconnected. Turn the tap off after use and before maintenance.
Do ½-inch and ¾-inch refer to the same connection?
No. The hose-end connectors fit nominal ½-inch or ⅝-inch hose. The tap adapter fits matching ¾-inch or 1-inch BSP male tap outlets, using its removable reducer as appropriate. Check the hose and tap independently.
Is this a Hozelock-branded kit?
No. The listing describes compatibility with the garden quick-connect system, rather than a Hozelock-branded product. Check that your existing fittings use the matching connection and that their seals are in good condition.

What is BSP?
What is BSP thread size?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is a nominal pipe-thread size, not a direct measurement of a fitting’s bore or outside diameter. For example, a ½-inch BSP male thread measures about 21mm across its outer thread crests.
These figures are approximate outside diameters of male BSP threads, to help identify the nominal size. They are not inch-to-millimetre unit conversions:
- 3/8" BSP → 16.66 mm
- 1/2" BSP → 20.95 mm
- 3/4" BSP → 26.44 mm
- 1" BSP → 33.25 mm
- 1.25" BSP → 41.91 mm
- 1.5" BSP → 47.80 mm
- 2" BSP → 59.61 mm
- 3" BSP → 87.88 mm
- 4" BSP → 113.03 mm
Measure across the outside of a male thread, then check its pitch and whether it is parallel or tapered. Diameter alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the product’s stated thread specification before connecting.
