  • 90° downward outlet — the horizontal body brings the spout forward before turning the flow down. Position it over your watering can or bucket, with enough room beneath the outlet to fill and remove the container.
  • 1-inch BSP male inlet — fits a corresponding female BSP connection on a tank fitting or adapter. Check the connection already on your container; an original coarse-thread IBC outlet needs a suitable adapter.
  • Grey polypropylene body and blue lever — control dispensing at the tap with an easy-to-see handle. Leave room for the lever to move, and support any attached hose so it cannot pull or twist the plastic fitting.
  • Ridged hose tail with PTFE tape supplied — use the outlet for direct dispensing or a suitably matched hose. The 1-inch BSP label describes the inlet thread, so check the hose fit separately; hose, clips and tank adapters are not included.

Description

A downward spout for everyday watering

Fill a watering can or draw stored water through a 90° downward outlet. This grey polypropylene tap brings the spout forward from its inlet, with a blue lever for controlling the flow.

The 1-inch BSP male thread needs a matching female connection. Check the tank fitting and the space below it before ordering.

Tap and PTFE tape supplied. Tank adapter, hose and clips are separate.

Start with the connection on your tank

A replacement tap must match the fitting it screws into. This model has a 1-inch BSP male inlet, so look for a corresponding female thread on your water butt, bulkhead or existing adapter.

An IBC's original large coarse-thread outlet is a different connection. If an adapter is already fitted, identify its smaller outlet rather than choosing by the container alone.

Start the thread by hand and use a sealing arrangement appropriate to the mating fitting. PTFE tape is supplied; avoid overtightening the PP body or using the blue lever to screw the tap into place.

Pour directly or connect a suitable hose

The outlet turns downwards, making it useful for filling a watering can or bucket below the tank. Allow room to lift the container away once it is full.

For a hose connection, the flexible hose fits over the ridged tail and needs a suitable securing method. This is not a garden click-fit spigot.

The inlet's 1-inch BSP designation does not tell you the hose bore. Match the hose to the actual tail, check the fit, and support it so its weight or movement cannot strain the tap.

Position it before you fill the tank

Check access to the spout and handle while the connection is easy to reach.

Isolate the water

Close the supply or lower the water below the outlet before removing a tap. Inspect the mating thread and sealing surface for debris or damage.

Leave working space

Set the outlet downward and leave the blue lever clear of the tank wall and nearby fittings. Confirm your watering can, bucket or hose fits beneath it.

Test the assembly

Introduce water gradually and inspect the inlet and any hose joint. Resolve a poor fit before regular use, and drain exposed fittings before freezing weather.

Questions about this 90° tap

Will it fit directly onto an IBC?

Only if the connection presented is a matching 1-inch BSP female thread. A large S60x6 coarse-thread outlet needs a suitable adapter. Check any adapter already installed on the container.

Can I attach a garden quick connector?

The spout is a ridged hose tail, not a male garden quick-connect spigot. A female click-fit connector does not attach directly in the same way. Check the hose and outlet fit before making a connection.

Does 1-inch BSP mean it takes 1-inch hose?

No. Here it identifies the inlet thread. The hose connects to the separate outlet tail, so its bore must be checked against that tail rather than chosen from the BSP name.

What comes with the tap?

The PP lever tap and PTFE tape are supplied. Tank adapters, hoses, clips and the container are not included. Choose those parts to match your own installation.

What is BSP?

What is BSP thread size?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is a nominal pipe-thread size, not a direct measurement of a fitting’s bore or outside diameter. For example, a ½-inch BSP male thread measures about 21mm across its outer thread crests.

These figures are approximate outside diameters of male BSP threads, to help identify the nominal size. They are not inch-to-millimetre unit conversions:

  • 3/8" BSP → 16.66 mm
  • 1/2" BSP → 20.95 mm
  • 3/4" BSP → 26.44 mm
  • 1" BSP → 33.25 mm
  • 1.25" BSP → 41.91 mm
  • 1.5" BSP → 47.80 mm
  • 2" BSP → 59.61 mm
  • 3" BSP → 87.88 mm
  • 4" BSP → 113.03 mm

Measure across the outside of a male thread, then check its pitch and whether it is parallel or tapered. Diameter alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the product’s stated thread specification before connecting.
