Description

A longer cover in silver and black

A row of stored items needs a sheet that reaches along its length without leaving the width short. This 5m × 8m tarpaulin provides a rectangular cut of 300gsm polyethylene, with a silver face and black reverse.

The reinforced hemmed edges have 12mm rust-resistant eyelets every 1m, with reinforced corners at the ends. Plan supports and suitable perimeter fixings around the items, allowing the sheet to drape without pulling it tightly over sharp edges.

One tarpaulin supplied. Supports, ropes and bungees are not included.

Plan the fit along both covering routes

Follow a tape measure over the top and down the sides of the items along the longer route. Repeat across the shorter direction. Position the 8m cut side along the route that needs it, checking that the 5m cut side leaves enough material across the width.

The nominal flat cut area is 40m² before hemming. Finished dimensions may be up to 5% smaller, and material used for draping, overlaps and fixing clearance cannot also cover the ground beneath. Check each route separately before ordering.

The diagram shows the 8:5 cut proportions. Only corner eyelets are drawn for clarity; this size has specified 1m intervals along the edges.

A supported cover starts at the edges

Work around the sheet when fitting it, keeping the material supported and the attachments suited to the job.

Protect contact points

Remove sharp debris and cushion rough corners before positioning the tarpaulin. Leave enough material to drape naturally instead of pulling it tightly over a protruding edge.

Use the fixing points

Check that ties or bungees fit the 12mm eyelets and can reach suitable anchors. Spread attachments around the perimeter; do not expect a single corner to hold an unsupported arrangement.

Check and store

Give rain a route to run off, and inspect the sheet and attachments during use. Remove loose dirt and let the tarpaulin dry before folding it away. Keep it clear of flames and hot equipment.

What arrives with your order?

One silver and black 300gsm polyethylene tarpaulin, nominally 5m × 8m before hemming, with reinforced edges and corners and 12mm rust-resistant eyelets every 1m. Supports, ropes, bungees and other accessories are not included.

300gsm describes material weight per square metre. Ordering more than one supplies separate sheets. This tarpaulin is not suitable for roofing or temporary roofing.

Before fitting your tarpaulin

Are 5m × 8m the finished dimensions?

No. They are nominal cut measurements before the edges are folded and hemmed. Finished dimensions may be up to 5% smaller. Allow separately for drape, overlap and the reach to your anchors.

How far apart are the eyelets?

This size has 12mm rust-resistant eyelets every 1m along the edges, with reinforced corners. Fixing accessories are sold separately; check their fit and reach for your installation.

Does 300gsm describe the weight of this sheet?

It describes the material weight per square metre, rather than the total weight of the supplied tarpaulin. This sheet has a nominal flat cut area of 40m² before hemming.

Can I use it for roofing?

No. Do not use this tarpaulin for roofing or temporary roofing.

To initiate a return, please contact us via our contact form to obtain a return authorisation and the correct returns address (different from the address on your invoice). This can also be done through your 'recent orders' page on your account if you are registered with Shop. Returns sent without prior authorisation will be discarded.

Returned items must be in the same condition in which you received them—unworn or unused, with tags attached and in their original packaging. You must include either a copy of your invoice or a slip with your order reference number inside the parcel. Please be sure not to obscure your return reference number on the label.

If you refuse delivery or reject the parcel without prior notice, we will inspect the returned package and issue a refund upon receipt. Although there is no restocking fee, we will deduct the cost of the return postage label (£3.35) from your refund.

If the returned item or its packaging shows signs of use, damage, or staining, we may deduct up to 50% of the order value—or refuse the return entirely—depending on its condition. Examples include damaged tags, stained, modified or damaged packaging, or missing components.

For faulty, incorrect, or damaged items, please contact us before sending anything back so we can attempt to resolve the issue directly. If we agree that a return is necessary due to our error, we will provide you with a pre-paid return label.

Products that have been modified or damaged through customer action are not eligible for return. This includes, but is not limited to, items that have been cut, trimmed or otherwise altered—such as a tarpaulin or pond liner resized to your specifications—or any product showing damage beyond normal inspection handling.

Please see our refund policy for further information.
