  • Angled outlet for easier dispensing — the extended body carries the spout away from the inlet, with a 45° downward-facing end for filling a watering can or directing stored water into a suitable hose.
  • 1-inch BSP male inlet — screws into a matching female BSP fitting. Check the connection on your tank or adapter first: an IBC’s original large outlet thread is not necessarily 1-inch BSP, so a separate adapter may be needed.
  • Polypropylene body with blue lever — the grey PP tap provides straightforward water-flow control for a compatible water butt, rainwater tank or storage-container fitting. The tap length is 170mm.
  • Barbed hose-tail outlet — suitable hose fits over the ridged spout end and should be secured appropriately. The 1-inch BSP size describes the inlet thread, not the hose bore. One tap supplied; hose, clips, tank adapter and thread-sealing materials are separate.

Description

Bring the outlet clear of the tank

Dispense stored water into a watering can or suitable hose with this 170mm polypropylene lever tap and its 45° downward outlet.

The blue lever controls the flow. Its 1-inch BSP male inlet fits a matching female connection on a water butt, rainwater tank or separate adapter.

One tap supplied. Tank fittings, hose and thread-sealing materials are separate.

Check the tank connection first

The fitting at the container determines whether the tap screws straight in or needs an adapter.

Find the female thread

The tap has a 1-inch BSP male thread. It needs a matching female BSP socket on the tank fitting or adapter. A different thread or a plain opening needs an appropriate separate connection.

Check an IBC outlet separately

An IBC’s large original outlet is not automatically 1-inch BSP. Match an adapter to the actual IBC outlet, then check that its tap-side connection is suitable for this tap.

Allow room for the lever

Check the space around the valve handle and beneath the angled spout. The 170mm tap length is not a promise of 170mm clearance from the tank wall once fitted.

A threaded inlet and an angled hose tail

The straight threaded end connects to the water supply. The longer spout carries water away from that fitting and turns down at the end.

The blue lever controls the flow. For fitting or replacing the tap, isolate the supply or empty the container below the outlet first. Use sealing materials appropriate to the threaded joint, and avoid overtightening the plastic body.

After fitting, introduce water gradually and inspect the connection before leaving the container filled. Support any attached hose so its weight cannot pull against the tap.

Match hose to the tail, not the BSP label

The ridged end fits inside suitable flexible hose. Choose hose with a compatible internal bore and use an appropriate securing clip for the hose and connection.

1-inch BSP refers to the inlet thread. It does not specify a 1-inch hose bore at the spout, and this hose tail is not a standard garden click-on plug.

If you will dispense directly into a watering can, check the height and position of the installed outlet. Close the lever after use and drain exposed fittings before freezing weather.

Questions about the 45° PP tap

Does it screw directly onto every IBC tank?

No. This tap has a 1-inch BSP male inlet. Check the IBC outlet and any adapter already fitted; an appropriate adapter may be required to provide a matching female BSP connection.

Does 1-inch BSP mean it takes 1-inch hose?

No. That label identifies the inlet thread. Hose must fit the separate ridged tail at the angled outlet; confirm the hose and tail fit before choosing a hose or clip.

Are sealing tape and a tank adapter included?

This listing supplies one tap. Thread-sealing materials, tank adapter, hose and clips are separate. A different bundle that includes tape is a separate product.

Is the 170mm length the distance from the tank wall?

It describes the tap length. The exposed reach depends on how far the inlet screws into the fitting and whether an adapter is used. Check the available space for your own installation.

What is BSP?

What is BSP thread size?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is a nominal pipe-thread size, not a direct measurement of a fitting’s bore or outside diameter. For example, a ½-inch BSP male thread measures about 21mm across its outer thread crests.

These figures are approximate outside diameters of male BSP threads, to help identify the nominal size. They are not inch-to-millimetre unit conversions:

  • 3/8" BSP → 16.66 mm
  • 1/2" BSP → 20.95 mm
  • 3/4" BSP → 26.44 mm
  • 1" BSP → 33.25 mm
  • 1.25" BSP → 41.91 mm
  • 1.5" BSP → 47.80 mm
  • 2" BSP → 59.61 mm
  • 3" BSP → 87.88 mm
  • 4" BSP → 113.03 mm

Measure across the outside of a male thread, then check its pitch and whether it is parallel or tapered. Diameter alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the product’s stated thread specification before connecting.
