Prepare the connection
Isolate the supply or empty the container below its outlet. Confirm the mating thread and use sealing materials appropriate to the fitting.

A blue lever and 45° downward spout make this grey PP tap a practical choice for dispensing stored water into a watering can or suitable hose.
The ½-inch BSP male inlet fits a matching female connection. Check your tank fitting or adapter first; this tap is 170mm long.
One tap supplied. Hose, tank fittings and sealing materials are separate.

The threaded end shown here is the ½-inch BSP male inlet. It screws into a matching female fitting on the supply side.
If you are replacing a tap, check the thread specification of the socket it fits into. A large IBC outlet or a different tank thread may need a separate adapter to provide the correct connection.
BSP is a nominal thread designation. It is a separate fit check from the hose attached to the spout, so do not choose this tap solely because a hose is described as half-inch.

For filling a watering can, check that the installed outlet sits high enough above the opening. The downward angle helps direct the water, while the lever lets you control it at the tank.
For a hose connection, the ridged tail sits inside compatible flexible hose. Confirm the hose bore matches the tail and use a suitable securing clip. This end is not a standard garden click-on plug.
The 170mm figure is the tap length. How far it stands out from a tank depends on the connection and any adapter used.
Leave space around the handle and support any hose attached to the spout.
Isolate the supply or empty the container below its outlet. Confirm the mating thread and use sealing materials appropriate to the fitting.
Avoid overtightening the plastic body. Check the lever can move freely and the spout points where you need it without forcing the threaded joint.
Introduce water gradually and inspect the inlet and any hose joint. Close the tap after dispensing and drain exposed fittings before freezing weather.
The ½-inch BSP label describes the tap’s inlet thread. Hose fit is a separate check at the ridged outlet; match the hose’s internal bore to that tail.
One tap is supplied. A tank adapter, bulkhead fitting, backnut, hose and clips are separate. The parts required depend on the connection already fitted to your container.
This model has a 45° angled outlet, as shown in the photographs. A 90° model turns the spout down more sharply and is a separate choice.
It is the tap length. Installed clearance depends on how much of the inlet enters the fitting and whether an adapter is used. Check the space for your watering can or hose in the intended position.

What is BSP thread size?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is a nominal pipe-thread size, not a direct measurement of a fitting’s bore or outside diameter. For example, a ½-inch BSP male thread measures about 21mm across its outer thread crests.
These figures are approximate outside diameters of male BSP threads, to help identify the nominal size. They are not inch-to-millimetre unit conversions:
Measure across the outside of a male thread, then check its pitch and whether it is parallel or tapered. Diameter alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the product’s stated thread specification before connecting.
