  • Join two 40mm-bore hoses — this equal straight connector has a ribbed hosetail at each end, with a central stop ring between them. Use it to join suitable pond hose sections while keeping the same nominal hose size on both sides.
  • 100mm overall length — the reference photograph also marks a 44mm hosetail section. Use those fitting dimensions when planning the joint, then allow space for the hose seating, securing clips and gradual bends in the completed run.
  • Check 40mm rather than the inch label alone — 38mm and 40mm hose can both be sold under a 1½-inch trade label. This is the 40mm fitting. Match the metric internal bore and wall profile of each hose to the hosetails.
  • Secure both hose connections — choose clips from the outside diameter of each hose once it is fitted over the ribs. Leave access to tighten and inspect them, and support the hose run so the joint is not pulled or bent sideways.
  • One bare black plastic joiner supplied — hose and clips are sold separately. Both ends are unthreaded hosetails, so a pump or filter’s threaded port needs its own matching adapter. Inspect both completed hose joints with water before concealing the route.

Description

Join two lengths of 40mm pond hose

Extend a suitable hose run with this straight 40mm joining connector. Equal-size ribbed hosetails take the hose at either end.

A narrow central ring separates the two seating sections, giving you an accessible hose-to-hose joint.

One black plastic connector supplied. Hose and securing clips are sold separately.

Allow room for both hoses

The reference photograph shows a 100mm overall length and a 44mm hosetail section. The central ring separates the two hose seating areas.

Plan space for the completed joint as well as the bare fitting. Keep access to both clips and support gradual hose bends beyond the connector.

Make both hose connections accessible

Check the fit, securing clips and hose route before completing the joint.

Match both hose bores

Use suitable 40mm internal-bore hose on each side. Check the wall profile and fitting requirements. The 38mm hose range is a different nominal bore, even if both use a 1½-inch trade label.

Secure each end

Seat the hoses on their respective ribbed sections following the hose’s fitting guidance. Select clips for the fitted outside diameter and leave access to tighten them. Hose and clips are not part of this listing.

Support and check the run

Arrange the hose without a sharp bend or tension across the connector. Keep the joint supported and accessible. Inspect both connections with water before covering the hose route or making the join difficult to reach.

Questions about the 40mm straight joiner

Can I fit 38mm hose if it is labelled 1½-inch?

Check the metric bore rather than the trade inch label. The 38mm and 40mm hose ranges are separate nominal sizes even when both are called 1½-inch. This fitting is the 40mm version. Match the hose’s internal diameter and wall profile to the hosetail before assembly.

Does the 100mm length include both hose ends?

Yes. The reference photograph shows 100mm as the overall connector length, including both hosetails and the centre. It also marks a 44mm hosetail section. These are fitting dimensions; allow additional room for the seated hoses, clips and gradual bends around the joint.

Are securing clips supplied with the joiner?

No. This listing supplies one bare connector. Choose clips separately for both hose connections, sized around the outside of each hose once seated on the ribs. Check the clip style suits the hose and keep the joint accessible for tightening and inspection.

Does either end have a BSP thread?

No. Both ends are ribbed 40mm hosetails for joining suitable hose sections. A threaded pump or filter port needs a matching threaded-to-hosetail adapter. Check the equipment’s thread size and gender separately from the hose bore when selecting that fitting.
